The situation
Noble Goods is a women’s clothing boutique in a converted barn on Port Road in Kennebunk. Owners Melissa and Heather stock pieces you won’t find anywhere else in Maine: natural fibers, small makers from Europe, Japan, and the States.
Their customers know quality. They can spend $700 on a coat without blinking. But they’re tired. Tired of trends, tired of brands that don’t see them, tired of clothes that don’t work for the bodies they have now. Most high-end retail talks to them about fashion. Nobody was talking to them about how it feels to get dressed.
What we did
We interviewed Melissa and Heather, then their actual customers, and mapped the high-end retail market from Portland to Portsmouth.
The insight came from the customers: they didn’t want to be transformed. They wanted to recognize themselves. That moment in the mirror when something just fits and you think, “There I am.”
That became the brand headline: “There you are.” Four pillars made it real, starting with “Feel First, Then Fit,” because how a garment feels matters more than how it photographs. We set an art direction built on fabric, movement, and light rather than outfits. Then we built the website and a social strategy that shows moments instead of products: a coat caught in the light, a wool sleeve around a cup of coffee.
What’s next
Sales grew 60% year over year. Noble Goods didn’t spend a dollar on paid ads to get there.
